The Proclamation of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth was read from the balcony of the Muckle Cross, Elgin on Friday 8th February 1952 by the late Lord provost of Elgin, John Brodie.
Her Majesty succeeded her Late Father King George VI, who had died two days earlier.
In happier times we celebrate, in June 2002, a remarkable achievement in British History, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth will have reigned for fifty years.
